"The Guardians" came about after I found Sylvia Antiques which is a business on Nantucket Island that has been in the Sylvia family for about 100 years. The vigilant owls take up most of the window space and are a fine representation of folk art. Nantucket is known for its basketry, and this is also displayed, along with artifacts from the historical whaling industry. I painted this from a photo that I took while standing outside of the shop. Although this is a small painting, it has a lot of punch and is rather complex due to the tight planes that had to be achieved for this painting. Currently the painting is on hold, however inquiries are welcome. The painting is framed in a black floating frame.
